Data centers consisting of hundreds of thousands of servers process massive amount of data driven by cloud computing and big data applications as well as new and emerging workloads such as AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning). These emerging workloads, which may span different geographical areas, need greater bandwidth and higher efficiency when having to interconnect compute, storage, and memory across and/or within a rack at higher speeds.
In this paper, Cisco and Panduit will describe some of the trends in data center connectivity and the impact this compute-intensive workload have on cabling and network infrastructure design with corresponding deployment guidelines.
